Kilkenny are safely through to the GAA Hurling All-Ireland senior championship final for a sixth successive year and now it’s the turn of Dublin and Tipperary to battle it out for the right to join them in the final on September 4.

For the sixth year in a row the Galway hurlers have been knocked out of the All-Ireland senior hurling championship before the Galway Races. And last Sunday’s 10-point defeat to Waterford was a real kick in the guts for hurling supporters in the county, particularly those who travelled to Semple Stadium with high hopes.

Kilkenny put on a good display when defeating Waterford fairly comprehensively by 0-26 to 3-9 in an entertaining challenge game in Tallow on Sunday night in front of an attendance of over 2,000 supporters. Henry Shefflin was a welcome return to the team.
